How to Cross Out Words in Microsoft Word 2013
Crossing out words in Word is also known as applying strikethrough formatting. Here are the steps:
- Select the text you want to cross out. To select:
- A word: Double click on the word
- A sentence: Click and drag from the start to the end of the sentence
- A paragraph: Triple click inside the paragraph
- The entire document: Press Ctrl+A
- On the Home tab in the Font group, click the Strikethrough button (it looks like abcd with a line through it). This will apply single-line strikethrough formatting to cross out the selected text.
- To remove strikethrough formatting, select the crossed out text and click the Strikethrough button again to toggle it off.
You can also apply double strikethrough formatting to cross out text with two lines:
- Select the text and open the Font dialog box (Home tab > Font group > Font Dialog Box Launcher)
- Go to the Font tab > Double Strikethrough
- Click OK
To remove double strikethrough, repeat the steps and uncheck the Double Strikethrough option.
