Switch to the Chrome browser
The easiest solution is to use Chrome instead of Firefox. Open Google Docs in Chrome, go to Tools > Voice typing and the microphone icon should appear. Make sure your microphone is enabled and working properly.
Check microphone permissions
In Chrome, go to Settings > Site Settings > Microphone and make sure docs.google.com has permission to use your microphone. If not, toggle it on.
Try clearing your Chrome cache and cookies to eliminate any possible conflicts. Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear Browsing Data.
Browser extensions can sometimes interfere with site features like voice typing. Try disabling all extensions and trying again. Re-enable them one by one to identify any problematic extensions.
Try incognito/guest mode
Open an incognito or guest window in Chrome and navigate to Google Docs to rule out any profile-specific issues.
If voice typing still doesn’t work after trying these troubleshooting tips, your only option is to use a Chromium-based browser like Chrome or Edge. Firefox and other browsers do not support this feature currently. Let me know if you have any other questions!
